It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Joshua “Josh” Van der Kolk at the age of 27.

Josh was a bright soul with a kind heart, always seeking to uplift those around him. Having overcome his own struggles with addiction, he was just beginning his career in addiction counseling, driven by a deep desire to help others find their way to healing. His journey was one of resilience, and his greatest hope was to be a guiding light for those who needed it most.

Through his struggles and triumphs, his mother, Kerry James, remained steadfastly by his side, witnessing his transformation and the strength he carried within him. Josh’s compassion and understanding made him a source of comfort to many. His beautiful smile could light up a room, and his infectious laughter brought joy to those fortunate enough to know him.

Josh leaves behind a family who loved him beyond measure: his mother, Kerry, his father, Robert; and his sisters, Samantha and Connie. Their hearts ache with the loss of such a special soul, taken far too soon.

Though his time with us was short, Josh’s impact will live on in the lives he touched. We have lost another incredible young person, but his spirit will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace.
