Alice Van'T-Haaff

December 31, 1946 — March 20, 2021

Alice was born December 31, 1946 in Raymond, Alberta to Floyd and Doris Larson (nee Smith). She was one of 8 children and loved being a part of a large loving family. She passed away peacefully March 20, 2021 at the Royal Jubilee hospital in Victoria, BC on the exact date that she gave birth to her first child and began her life's work as an amazing mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Ronald Van't-Haaff, Katrina (James) Mace, Juliana (Brant) Pinvidic, John (Trisha) Van't-Haaff and Marinda (Ryan) Heshka. Alice leaves behind her loving grandchildren, Jessica, Samantha, Riley, Daniel, Kahless, Briana, Braden, Jace, Talia and Roxy.
Alice moved to Victoria after falling in love with it during the summer of 1964, when she came to stay with cousins and work as a berry picker. Alice's family was truly her pride and joy. She reveled in the accomplishments of each and every one of her offspring and was truly delighted by their every achievement. She was at her happiest with a grandchild in her lap, stealing sips of her water or coffee.
Alice was a great lover of games and puzzles, crafts and crochet, movies and music. She especially enjoyed and was incredibly talented at crocheting animals for her grandchildren and other personal items for her family, most often without even a pattern or instructions. She always had a jigsaw puzzle "on the go" where visitors would sit and help and chat and laugh. Alice's wonderful, life-long friends (especially Diane and Mary) accurately describe her as caring, generous, funny, loyal, proud, beautiful, intelligent, trustworthy and one-of-a-kind. She was loved by everyone who knew her and her kindness was never-ending. She will be intensely missed by us all.
At her own request, there will be no formal celebration of life.
Her memory will forever bring us joy.
