Allan Howard Stone

Allan Howard Stone February 28, 1946 – September 6, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Allan Howard Stone on September 6, 2026, at the age of 80.

Allan was born in Trail, BC, on February 28, 1946, to Oswald and Vivian Stone. An only child, he was raised in Rapid City Manitoba, where he spent his childhood and adolescence. Allan was a lifelong learner, always curious and always wanting to do more, learn more and take on something new. In 1970, he joined the Canadian Tri- Forces- Air, Land and Sea as a Meteorologist Tech, where he served until 1980. His desire to keep learning continued throughout his life. After earning his Heavy Duty Equipment certification, he went on to work at Utah Mines in Port Hardy in 1981. He also devoted time to his studies during this time earning his Drafting Certification.

Eventually, Allan returned to Rapid City MB, where he met Barb. That meeting marked the beginning of a partnership that would last nearly 40 years. Together, they built a life that brought them to Victoria. They spent many years living in James Bay before more recently making their home in Langford. Allan later worked with the Commissionaires, continuing his habit of keeping busy and finding something new to do. Allan loved sports and was an avid fan, although those watching alongside him may have considered yelling at the television one of his favourite pastimes. He loved good food, good company and, as his friends at the Rapid City Queens Hotel, James Bay Inn and Bucky's Tavphouse could tell you, he was always up for a pint or a rum.

He was rarely seen without one of his stylish hats, which became a bit of a trademark and suited him perfectly. You could spot that hat from a distance and know it was Allan. He loved almost everything, with one notable exception: pears.

Allan leaves behind his beloved wife, Barbara Stone; his children, Michael Stone and Julie Adams (Stone); and his grandsons, Haiden Wort and Tanner Wort. He was predeceased by his parents, Oswald and Vivian Stone.
