Anne Beverly Millar

MILLAR Anne Beverley (nee Smith), 85, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2023 in her home in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. She was born to Harry and Lydia (nee Dezombre) Smith on April 3, 1938 in Victoria, BC and went on to live her entire life in Victoria. Anne married the love of her life Daniel McLaren Millar, who predeceased her after 52 happy years together. Anne had one brother, Earl Harry (Marie) Smith, (predeceased) and is survived by her daughters, Janice (Kevin Findley) Symonds and Joyce (Ian) MacDonald; her grandchildren, Sean (Kate Shuttleworth) MacDonald and Grant (Amanda) MacDonald; her great-grandchildren, Georgia, Isla and Alasdair; sister-in-law Marie Smith (nee Wright); nieces, Linda Smith, Leanne Bertolotti and Rita (Kirby) Humphrey; and honorary children Lora Kou and Alex Garcia.

Anne was an avid traveller, having explored every continent with her travelling companions, Danny, Earl and Marie.

Anne was also an accomplished artist and art teacher and in recent years enjoyed her Wednesday morning sessions with fellow art enthusiasts at Goward House.

She was a founding member of the Centre for Spiritual Living Victoria. Anne was an active member in her church and community, being a passionate volunteer and president of many different committees throughout her life.

Anne will be remembered for her kind and caring heart, warm hugs, love of life and making anyone feel welcome in her home and life.

A Celebration of Anne’s life will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Sands Funeral Chapel on Quadra Street, the Reverend Carrie Hunter presiding. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation or a charity of your choice.
