Ruth was born near the village of Chilmark which was located some twenty miles south Oyen in South-eastern Alberta. Today no evidence of this village exists. Shortly after Ruth's birth the family moved to farmland near Eston Saskatchewan. Here it was Ruth spent her childhood and teen years. Shortly after graduating from high school, Ruth entered nurses training in the Saskatoon City hospital and after graduation followed this profession. With the commencement of WWII Ruth joined the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps as a Lieutenant Nursing Sister and in this capacity saw service in England and Germany during the war. At wars end she eventually returned to Canada resuming her vocation in civilian life. In 1954 she met with Stacey Davis, whom she had first met in 1939. They were married and Ruth accompanied Stacey on his various postings as an RCMP member at his many postings in Canada. A daughter, Susan, was born to the couple in 1958 and Susan following in the footsteps of her mother also became a registered nurse.
