Barry Sydney Morris Smith

February 26, 1939 — May 11, 2019

Barry Sydney Morris Smith was born on February 26, 1939 in Cochrane, Ontario to parents William and Vera Smith both from The Isle of Man. Barry was the youngest of four children. Growing up, he moved around to various places in Ontario before ultimately settling in Victoria, BC.
Barry attended Lakehead University in Thunder Bay were he received his Bachelor of Science. He later married Patricia Eileen Murphy in September 1965. They moved to BC and operated a lodge together on Galiano Island. After Galiano Island they moved onto their next adventure to Victoria, BC. Barry worked at the University of Victoria and retired from his position many years later to spend time with family, friends and volunteering.
Barry passed away peacefully on Saturday May 11, 2019, surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his wife Tricia of 53 years, three children Doug, Greg and Andrea, five grandchildren Tyler, Spencer, Haley, Justin and Emily and his older sister Fern.
The family would like to thank the Hospice staff at Royal Jubilee Hospital for the care Barry received.
