On January 26, 2021 our beloved Poppi, after a courageous battle with cancer, left for the 19âthâ hole. He was a pleasure to spend time with, laughing at his sharp wit and pointed insults. Bernie was born in 1948, the middle child of Bernie and Mary Morris in Vancouver. He has fond memories of wintering on Alta Lake, north of Vancouver where his parents build a cabin. An avid reader and creative person, he was a self-taught carpenter who designed and built home additions, which came in handy as the family grew. Bernie was a sports enthusiast, who loved to yell at the TV, pulling for his team. Bernie did not excel at suffering fools, or hiding his disdain. He recognized the importance of education for operators in order to close gaps in knowledge that could adversely impact water quality. Bernie developed an enduring friendship with colleague Mike Ippen. They travelled extensively throughout the province delivering courses to operators on important subjects such as regulatory requirements, water treatment, disinfection, water sampling methods and risks in water systems. Over twenty-five years more than a thousand operators experienced Bernie's engaging, no-nonsense teaching >
