Betty Mavis Adele O'Neill

d. November 8, 2017

O'Neill, Betty Mavis Adele - Betty O'Neill, nee Illsley, died peacefully at Victoria Hospice on November 8th, 2017 in her 86th year. Betty is predeceased by her parents Reginald W Illsley and Muriel A Illsley (nee Beaumont) and brother- in-law, Howard Franklin. Betty is survived by her sister Dorothy Franklin; children - Maryanne (Gord), Joanne, Allison, Kim and Larry; grandchildren - Mathew (Erin), Amanda, Jay (Sarah), Adam, Benjamin and Jessica and great grandchildren - Connor. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews Philip (Terry), Paul and Peter (Rita), extended family at The Glenshiel, friends and acquaintances, especially her friend Frances of St. Andrew's Cathedral.
After graduating from Westervelt College in London, Ontario, Betty worked for several years as a payroll clerk for the Ontario Government until she married in1958; over the next ten years, Betty became the very busy Mother of five children. At the age of 55, Betty, with a little encouragement, returned to school at Fanshawe College where she graduated in their Business Administration program. Betty went on to do Administrative volunteer work for many organizations in London Ontario, including the London Association for Community Living. She loved to play piano, knit, and paint. She created several beautiful pieces of artwork.
Betty moved from Ontario across Canada at the age of 72 to be with her daughter Allison and grandsons, Adam and Ben in Victoria, BC. Together, they had many adventures in Betty's new home where she loved the scenic ocean and mountain views. Our Mother and Nana will be deeply missed.
Memorial contributions to the Victoria Hospice Program, or St. Andrew's Cathedral, Victoria, BC are gratefully appreciated. Many thanks to the Volunteers, Nurses and Doctors for their kindness and wonderful care and to Rev. Ian Stuart.
