Bonne Bouman

d. December 13, 2019

May 9/32 (Maasland, Netherlands)-Dec 13/19
Bonne lived through the Second World War and was later in the Dutch Navy, where he spent time in South East Asia. Later, he became a Merchant Marine, sailing the Atlantic. He had many tales from his travels.
Upon marriage to Lorette in 1961, a move to Canada seemed to be the way to go. More space, and a new world, as it were. Bonne was as proudly Canadian, as he was Dutch.
Settling in Sarnia, Ontario, a house was soon bought, and also the birth of two sons, Dan and Paul.
Bonne soon started selling Life Insurance.
Then one day he came upon a Beautiful BC magazine, and thought we needed to take a look at that place. The move to Comox occurred in 1972, a few months after our cross country adventure. Bonne always thought Vancouver Island is a paradise.
Soon after came the purchase of a hobby farm, and a change in career to Real Estate. Bonne always felt pride in doing his jobs well, and with integrity. Fostering, and involvement with some refugee families, were also responsibilities he took seriously.
Bonne's interests included spending time on the water, RVing, farming and gardening (oh, and making wine).
Bonne leaves behind his wife, Lorette, son Dan (and children Kaleb and Mckylie, and their mother Kelli), son Paul (Sheila, and children Cavell and Jordan). Also left behind is Gino Scott (Jennifer, and daughter Sydney). Thank you Gino for your support,  both now and in the past. Also mourning is Gordon Woo. Bonne also leaves behind extended family, both locally (his brother Dan(Audrey, and children Ingrid, Corina and Cindy) and back in Holland.
Bonne/Pa/Opa died of old age-that is the best way to put it.
Many thanks to his care providers.
A simple cremation is planned, with no service anticipated at this time. Donations could be made to 'Operation Smile' or a local charity helping new immigrants.
