It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of Brenda Jeanne Moysey on July 11th, 2024 at age 78. Brenda was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a lifelong lover of animals including her beloved dog Casey and her cat Margaret. She was fiercely independent, a staunch activist for the planet, a world traveler and explorer, and forever eager to see new places and meet new people. From couch surfing in the Bronx to solo trips to Bali and even a year-long journey around the world, Brenda lived life to the fullest, constantly looking to the next adventure she could find. She found great joy in creating lasting memories with her family and friends, including on her infamous “Grandma Trips” which she took with each of her eight granddaughters.
Brenda was a loving mother to Carly and Brooke, taking them camping, hiking, and exploring across B.C., Canada and the world, and sharing with them her passion for experiencing new things and appreciating other cultures. Brenda was also a loving friend with many lifelong friends in Victoria, from her nursing school classmates to her longtime book-club pals and many more.
Brenda was born and raised in Victoria, B.C. and lived there most of her life, including 47 years in her lovely home in Rockland. Brenda thoroughly enjoyed sharing her beautiful home (once known as “Cedar House” when listed as a bed-and-breakfast) with newcomers from around the world. She loved to teach them about Canadian Culture, language and customs, including teaching many how to drive, recycle, and speak English with perfect diction. She imparted her staunch beliefs about independence and equality and her passion for experiencing new things to everyone that shared her home.
Brenda's love, humour, and wisdom will be sorrowfully missed by the many lives she touched. Her memory will be cherished, and her teachings will endure. We wish her joy, love, and serenity as she heads off on her newest adventure…
