Brian passed away peacefully at home with his family around him after a battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife Leslie Anne Clark, sons Alexander James Clark and Matthew William Clark, daughter Madeline Anni Amelia Clark, and sisters Sharon Anne Hewitt and Catherine Jean Argue.
After moving to Victoria at an early age, Brian spent the remainder of his life here. He often said that he sees no reason to leave the most beautiful place on the planet.
An avid sports enthusiast, Brian played many years of soccer, baseball, ball hockey and golf, followed by many more years coaching soccer at the youth and adult level. In early adulthood Brian could be found zooming around on motorcycles with his friends, including several memorable sport-touring trips as far as Yellowstone Park, the Grand Canyon, Yosemite and many destinations in BC. Trips to Europe broadened his world view and kindled an ongoing interest in history and global politics.
Following a successful career in the BC Public Service, Brian retired in 2013 to pursue his interests in photography, golf, and enjoying life in Metchosin. This included daily walks to Tower Point with his beloved terrier Oliver, where he would enjoy the scenery and chat with neighbours and some of the other regulars he came to know there.
Brian enjoyed a life rich in experiences with few regrets, but was deeply saddened thinking of all he would miss in the future. Enjoying great food and red wine with wonderful friends, Tuesday morning breakfasts with the fellas, golf, Canucks hockey, soccer at any level, and photography to name a few. A committed family man, his greatest sadness by far came from accepting that he’d no longer be part of all the wonderful years ahead with Leslie and the kids.
In lieu of flowers, Brian requested that any who wish please give generously to the BC Cancer Foundation.
A special thank you to all at the BC Cancer Agency and VIHA for top notch health care throughout.
