Brian Hughes

On Sunday October. 7, 2018 Brian Hughes passed peacefully with his loving wife and son at his side. Our loving husband, dad, and pa leaves behind his wife of 60 years Lorna, his sons David (predeceased) and John, and his five granddaughters Kierra, Carys, Brynna, Shelby and Abbey. Brian led a remarkable life! Following a distinguished career as a footballer for Swansea City Football Club and Wales, Brian immigrated to Victoria in 1970. For three decades Brian influenced hundreds of players and coaches in the Victoria soccer community, and also within Canada as a National Coach. His ambition, passion, commitment and loyalty was always second to none. As Brian transitioned into retirement he thoroughly enjoyed trail walking, riding his road bike for hours and driving anywhere as long as water was present. In the last three years Brian's health began to decline but his zest for life, joyful attitude and his smile was always present and evident. He seemed to touch everybody he engaged with on a daily basis! Special thank you to the Luther Court family for all their support, professionalism, guidance, and care.
