Brit Gage
April 28, 1945 – March 23, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Brit Gage, who left us peacefully on March 23, 2025, at the age of 79.
Born in Klofte, Norway, Brit later made her way to Edmonton, Alberta, where she met her partner of 60 years, Dean Gage. Together, they built a quiet, devoted life, living across Alberta and British Columbia before settling in Sooke on Vancouver Island.
Brit lived simply and gracefully, dedicating her life to her husband and her family. She worked hard without complaint, found joy in the small things—a shared smile, a quiet cup of coffee, a visit with someone dear—and met people easily, always ready for a warm conversation. She loved animals, books, and making things with her hands—whether through crafts, handiwork, or small personal touches that made a space feel like home. Easily delighted and always present, she brought warmth and gentleness to those around her.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Dean Gage; her children, Gary Jamieson (with his wife Morgan Jamison), and Shauna Strasdin (with her husband Rob Strasdin); and her grandchildren: Justin Gage, Brittany Gage (with her partner Matt Karbowski), Amber Vander Ende (with her husband Colin), Brendan Strasdin (with his partner Wendai Li), Evan Strasdin, and Hannah Strasdin. She is also survived by her sister, Anne Berwick, and her sister-in-law Diane (with her husband Mike) and her brother-in-law Ken (with his wife Kathy).
Her legacy lives on in the memories and hearts of all who knew her.
A private family gathering will be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers, please take a moment to cherish a simple joy, as Brit so often did. If you wish, donations could be made in Brit’s honour to the Alzheimer’s Society of British Columbia.
