HALL, Bryan Allan
February 17, 1947 - March 14, 2024
Bryan passed away peacefully at the Victoria General Hospital on March 14, 2024, surrounded by family. He was 77 years old. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 56 years, Carol, children, Martyn (Tara) & Raegyn (Melanie), two grandchildren (Henry & Willa), two brothers Richard (Maureen) & William (Sandy), numerous nieces & nephews, and many dear friends.
He is predeceased by his daughter Kelley, brother Russell, sister-in-law Beverly, brother-in-law David Quissy, and his parents George & Kathleen Hall.
.
Bryan was born and raised in Victoria, BC and attended Victoria High school. He went on to pursue a career as a mechanic and worked at BC Transit for many years. He loved baseball, soccer, golf, fishing, and always adding to his yearly Christmas lights display.
Bryan would want to be remembered for his involvement in the community outside of his work. He volunteered for many years as Vice President of Layritz Little League Baseball and was an accomplished umpire. He was selected to officiate multiple Canada & BC Games and umpired at all levels of ball in Victoria. He also volunteered as an Executive with Lower Island Soccer Association, a full-time linesman, and a soccer coach for many years at Prospect Lake & the Gorge Soccer club. There wasn’t a Saturday or Sunday morning where he wasn’t running up and down a sideline in Victoria shouting at the ref, the opposition coaches & players or all three at the same time.
He was a member of Ardmore Golf Course and played there regularly after retirement with his golfing crew. Bryan also loved the water and fishing. Some of his favourite moments were his yearly trips to Bamfield with Gary and the guys, trips to Sooke with Doug, and sharing his love of fishing with everyone he could. He was a natural teacher whether it be on the diamond, the field, or the boat.
Bryan certainly always left an impression. He was never short of an opinion and wouldn't hesitate to share it, whether you liked it or not. He was passionate about what he believed in.
First and foremost, however, Bryan was a loving Husband, Dad, Father-in-Law, Grandpa, Uncle & friend. He truly loved his family and friends with all his heart. He valued relationships very much and lovingly maintained them throughout his life. He loved capturing memories with his camera, making toys for his grandchildren, and chuckling along with their shenanigans. His absence will be felt heavily.
A celebration of Bryan’s life will be held at Ardmore Golf Course from 1-3pm on Saturday, May 4, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bryan’s honour may be made to the Parkinson Wellness Projects in Victoria, BC or to a charity of your choice.
