Caroline Elizabeth Meggison, RN, BSN, Registered Midwife (retired)
March 16, 1955 (Edmonton AB) - July 29, 2024 (Victoria BC)
Caroline Meggison lived her life with guidance through her lifelong practice of Iyengar Yoga, her foundation of family and friends, and her inherent joy in life. Caroline retired from Cool Aid Society as a nurse clinician, had been part of the first cohort of midwives registered to practice in BC, and deeply enjoyed working in her beautiful garden. In all her endeavours, Caroline studied hard to integrate knowledge and improve her practice. Caroline liked live music, restaurants and potlucks with her pals. She studied Spanish and especially enjoyed travel to Spanish speaking countries. As “Gramma Canada” she cherished her friend Hannah whom she met while in Ghana West Africa with CUSO, and especially her namesake, Hannah’s daughter Caro.
Many are saddened that Caroline is no longer amongst us, including her husband Jakob Meems, her brother Douglas Meggison (wife Marie Chidley), cousins and in-laws, and her many dear friends in the Victoria area and around the world. Caroline was predeceased by her parents George Clark Meggison (1909 - 2006) and Norma Augusta (nee Dalquist) (1915 - 1970).
Gratitude in abundance to the team of nurses, doctors and friends who supported Caroline through her recent illness, especially the RJH palliative care team. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Victoria Cool Aid Society, Victoria Hospice, Amnesty International or Iyengar Yoga Centre of Victoria.
To love others we must first learn to love ourselves without selfishness. E. Easwaran
