Christopher Andreas Etzel Heppner

On April 17, 2025, Chris Heppner passed away in Victoria BC, aged 92 years. He is mourned by his daughter Mary (Dan) and grandchildren Hannah and Andrew.

Chris was born in Berlin and moved to England as a young child. Following his undergraduate years at Oxford, he moved to Montreal, where he had a long and satisfying career as a professor in the English department at McGill University. He was a devoted fan of opera and classical music and spent many happy hours and days in the outdoors; birdwatching, kayaking, canoeing, hiking and biking. After retiring, he moved to Victoria to be closer to the ocean and to family.

The family will gather to celebrate his life.
