Colin John Birnie

Colin John Birnie aged 53 of Lochside Dr. Victoria, died Dec. 13, 2022 at the Palliative Care Unit Royal Jubilee Hospital after a courageous fight against cancer.  At his bedside were his loving wife Esther and his parents, Liz and Strachan Birnie.  Survived by his two sons Liam and Miles, he was a loving husband and devoted father with an unwavering, adventurous spirit.  He loved to bike, kayak, hike, ski, go camping and explore the outdoors, in fact, he met his wife Esther, while tree planting. He was an accomplished artist with a keen sense of wonder and loved investigating new ideas, and fields of knowledge.

A celebration of his life will be held at the pavilion of the the Horticultural Centre of the Pacific, Sunday, December 18th at 2pm. Gratitude to the many health professionals who assisted him throughout his journey.

Colin will be acutely missed by all who came in contact with him, in particular his wife, sons, and his dearly beloved family. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Volunteer Cancer Drivers’ Society.
