Colleen Carey

CAREY, Colleen Yvonne November 2, 1929 - December 20, 2014 Passed away inVictoria, BC after a courageous battle with cancer. Colleen was pre-deceased by her ex-husband and friend, Art Carey eight years ago. They had two daughters Catherine and Shelley (Jeremy) Brown and grandson Matthew. She also had a very special cat 'Misty' that she treated like a second grandchild. Colleen had great memories of growing up in Tisdale, SK and still had close friends from that time. Colleen started out as a telephone operator with SaskTel, took time off to raise children and then returned to SaskTel for another 10 years before retiring in Regina. She never did forgot a phone number! In 1995 Colleen moved to Victoria, BC where she was very active member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and a dedicated volunteer with the Royal Jubilee Hospital Ladies Hospital Auxiliary for 16 years. She was able to spend many years with her close-by family in Victoria and especially with her one and only grandson. Colleen loved to cook and anyone who knew her will have one of her recipes in their collection. She had a very infectious laugh and would share that laugh, or a joke, with friends both old and new. There was no such thing as a stranger. Colleen will be sorely missed. A funeral will be held January 30th at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.
