Curtis John Thom

February 17, 1964 — January 9, 2016

Thom, Curt (a.k.a Lovie) It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Curt after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side on January 9. Born February 17, 1964 in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan. Then with his family moved to Victoria, in 1977. Curt was pre-deceased by his dad Jim Thom, survived by Mom Emma, son James (Cassie), daughter Candice (Jordan), brothers Cory and Kelly (Jacquie), nephew Tim, niece Angelea, granddaughter Brookelyn. And his girlfriend Ida, a relationship that started as friends, turned into a couple in love. Ida was his rock and stood by him through it all. Curt also leaves behind many other family members and friends that were also like family.
Curt had many passions, which included being one of the original DT's ball team. He played for the team for 23 years, and as his kids grew older they went from sitting on the sidelines to also playing with the team. The DT's weren't just a ball team they all become one big family. Curt loved sports, playing and watching. He would not miss his kids games for nothing, and it did not matter that they were all grown up, he would be on the side lines cheering them on. He loved hanging out with all his friends and playing corn hole. There also seemed to be an impromptu gathering somewhere and Curt just knew when to be there.
Curt had a great sense of humor right until the end, and a contagious laugh that lit up a room. Was a hard worker, as co-owner of his moving company Moveco Moves. Loved his family and friends to the fullest.
A huge thanks you to all of the doctors and nurses at Jubilee Hospital and the amazing staff at The Victoria Hospice. And most of all thank you to Curt's cousin Rick for making sure that Curt received the best care that he could in his final days, and stood by him until the end. A life that touches others goes on forever
