It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of D’Arcy Hugh Arden.
Born in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, D’Arcy spent much of his life in the North, where he was surrounded by family, friends, and community. He built his career working in the mining industry. In later years, he made his home in Victoria, British Columbia, where he found happiness alongside the love of his life, Victoria and step-son Kwen.
D’Arcy will be remembered for his fantastic sense of fashion - the signature leather vest, his larger-than-life personality, and even bigger presence. He had a loud, unmistakable voice, a famous quick-witted “your arse i guess!”, and a natural ability to make people laugh til they cried. Whether he was joking around, sharing something funny, or repeating one of his well-known sayings “What the heck,” & “Geez Louise”. He brought humour, and loud cackles wherever he went.
D’Arcy is predeceased by his parents Therese and Jimmy Arden.
He is lovingly remembered by his siblings: Cecile, Margaret, James (Barb), Doug, Patsy (Kenny), Shirley, Troy, Betty, and Kristopher.
He will be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews: Neysa (Gus), Stacie, Michael, Justin, Kaitlyn (Dennis), Danielle, Kayla (Sam), Bianca, Jordan (Maddy), Nathan, and Mariah.
A very cherished Gruncle (great-uncle) to Aiden, Jaxon, Keira, Oliver, Hadley, Matthew, Olivia, Drew, Isabelle, Henry, Tate, Liam, and new addition Carter.
D’Arcy’s leaves behind many who will miss him dearly and remember him for the laughter and presence he brought into their lives.
Funeral details will be shared with family and friends as they become available.
May his spirit journey safely, and may he rest in peace.
Mahsi cho.
