Darin Alexander

June 1, 1964 — September 15, 2014

Darin Glen Alexander, June 1, 1964 September 15, 2014 Darin was born on June 1, 1964 to Glen and Clara Alexander in Edmonton, AB. He spent a few years of his childhood in Whitecourt, before their family moved to Leduc, where Darin attended elementary school right up to high school. He had many fond memories of growing up on their acreage outside of Leduc with his brother Greg. He graduated from Leduc Senior High in 1982. Darins passion was hockey. Darin played with the Fort Saskatchewan Traders Junior A team, he then played with the Langley Eagles Junior A team, from where he was offered a hockey scholarship at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Darin was a strong, skilled defenseman and his leadership qualities earned him captain of his university hockey team. Darin met the love of his life Denese, at an early age of 13. They started a junior high romance that continued steadfast, and even though they were miles apart for long periods of time, their love never wavered. They were a true example that absence makes the heart grow fonder. Denese and Darin were married on October 7, 1989 in Edmonton, AB. Right after they were married, they decided to start a new adventure together and relocated to Vancouver. Darin and Denese fit right in with the west coast life>Darins faith and family were a priority in his life and as a family they attended the Lambrick Park Church over the years. Darin and Denese loved living at the entrance of a beautiful park, which influenced Darins love for gardening and making sure his yard was picture perfect. He was happiest sitting in his backyard, playing baseball with the family down at Saks Point and any activity that included Denese, Olivia and Jacson.
Life took a sharp turn when Darin was diagnosed with bladder cancer in July, 2013. From surgery in October, to chemotherapy and then radiation, he always remained positive and believed all things were in Gods hands. He never complained, his bravery and courage was commendable and Darin was content and at peace, as long as his family was by his side. God saw his pain and did not want him to suffer anymore and on Monday night, September 15, 2014, took him to his heavenly home. We will miss him dearly, but his love and memory will never leave us.
Love Denese, Olivia and Jacson
