DAVETTA SHARON SHEPPARD
It is with great sadness that the family of Davetta Sheppard (nee English) announce her passing on March 19, 2026, in Victoria, B.C.
Davetta was born February 25, 1938, in Moosejaw, Saskatchewan to David and Marjorie English. Mom was predeceased by her older sister Audrey Andrews and younger brother David English.
Leaving to mourn her passing, her devoted husband James of 68 years, daughter Lisa Sheppard, son James Sheppard (Kathryn), son Jeremy Sheppard (Tracey), her sister Kaye Baker and brother Wayne English (Joanie). Mom will be dearly missed by her three grandsons, Keegan Little (Elisa), Thomas Little (Hannah) and Jake Sheppard.
Also leaving to mourn her passing are her sisters-in-law Rita (Tom) Wells, Patsy Vatrt and her nieces and nephews.
Mom would never describe herself as fond of flying, but she got in every airplane Dad ever owned or built, and her and dad had many great adventures together. She fondly remembered the huge party they had when the basement wall was removed to get Dad’s homebuilt out of the house.
Mom had a long career with Manitoba Crop Insurance Corporation and with three busy kids, going in three different directions, never missed a game or an event. Mom was very artistic, a talented seamstress and loved to crochet. You could always find her in the back of a cold arena, or the side of a pool at a swim meet. Sometimes, during a particularly tense hockey game, whatever she was crocheting became miles longer than it should have been!
Mom loved her sorority sisters of Beta Sigma Phi and was a lifelong avid volunteer, serving on hospital auxiliaries, performing arts and library volunteer boards. Never one to sit still, even in her later years, she crocheted hundreds of bonnets for premature babies in hospital.
Mom loved her family, music, the arts, and balancing a spreadsheet. She will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice.
