David Alan Johnson

d. November 3, 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dave. He was a Victoria man born and raised and knew every part of the city with many stories to tell. He leaves behind; partner Val and her family; children Kevin (Salena and granddaughter Payton), Haleigh (Steven and grandchildren Joseph and Rilynn); brothers and sisters Brian, Robert, Ivy, Maureen and Darlene, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Dave was predeceased by his parents Bob and Madelene as well as his son Miller. Dave and Miller had a special bond and Millers passing brought great heartache- may they both be together now watching over all of us. All that knew Dave will always remember his big heart, he treated everyone like family and was always there to help out, he was a stand up guy. He always had a story to tell or a piece of advice to give.
Dave was also a lover of music and could play most instruments, he gravitated towards them- you never knew when he would enter the room with an instrument and just start playing- most often he would come out playing Amazing Grace. Dave was also a collector of everything- hot wheels, vintage cars, instruments, classic knick-knacks, all sorts of things and could put a story to everything he found. He enjoyed being outdoors and exploring the island and had an eye for finding unique pieces of natural art. Most especially though he loved celebrations whether it was a birthday party, or a holiday, any occasion where people could get together and have a good time he was there and more often than not he was cooking the food and serving the drinks.
Dave will be greatly missed by all who knew him, he was one of a kind. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday November 12 at the Burnside Community Center, Victoria BC from 1-4pm.
