David Lawrence Carroll January 7th, 1952 to April 11th, 2016 A kind and gentle soul left us Monday morning. David died peacefully with his family by his side in Victoria Hospice. Survived by wife Tracy, son Patrick (Meghan Grant), daughter Tracy Wolfe (Scott), grandchildren Myan, Mataya and Jasper, sisters Joan (Gary) and Mona, nieces and nephews, aunts Eileen and Maureen. Predeceased by sister Barb and brother Tom. Born in Moncton, N.B. to Alice and Howard Carroll, Dave was the eldest of 5 siblings. He attended Mount Allison University before heading to BC. His life's work was based on his strong belief in social justice and dignity. He was very active with the United Steelworkers of America, Local 7884, and was everything from Local President to Chief Shop Steward. His last position was as a Staff Representative with the BCGEU in Victoria, B.C. He made a positive difference in many union members lives. Dave loved his annual tropical birthday holidays, Kona, Hawaii being one of his favorite destinations. He enjoyed any kind of travel and getting away from it all. Spending time with his children and grandchildren was precious time. Dave had a long battle with severe depression, he tried his best to overcome it every day. At peace at last.
Thanks to the staff at Victoria Hospice for their outstanding care and compassion. Should you wish to make a donation in Dave's memory, please donate to the Mood Disorders Association of British Columbia, or Victoria Hospice.
