David Alfred Grantham

DAVID ALFRED GRANTHAM, 76, of Victoria, BC, passed away on March 27, 2022 in Victoria.

A small informal celebration of David’s life will be held for close friends and family in Victoria on Saturday, April 16 at 1:00 p.m. PDT.  Friends in Victoria and elsewhere may join the celebration virtually via Zoom to share their memories of David.   (See below for the Zoom meeting link.)

David was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Alfred and Margaret Grantham on July 28, 1945. He graduated from Nutana Collegiate in 1963 and earned a BA (Advanced) in Sociology and Psychology from the University of Saskatchewan in the 1960s.

David lived a varied, fruitful and independent life, embodying the free spirit of youth in the 60s and 70s.  He was part or full owner of many businesses over the years - a used bookstore in Prince Albert, SK, a high-end stereo shop in Saskatoon and an art gallery in Vancouver.  He also did stints in sales and as a parole officer.  For the last dozen years of his life he supported developmentally disabled adults in the community to live happier, healthier and more independent lives.

A huge passion of David’s was listening to a wide range of music either live or on premium audio equipment.

David’s life was marked by two courageous battles with cancer.  The first when he was 48 (leukemia) and the latest over the last year (brain cancer).

He is survived by his daughter, Tamara Harrod of Toronto, brother John and sister-in-law Judie of Moncton, NB, nephew Brooke Grantham and niece Kelly Godfrey, both of Ottawa.  He is preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Margaret, and his wife Patricia (née Moen).
