David Greig

d. July 15, 2013

It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of
our loving father, grandfather, papa, brother, uncle and friend. Dad
fought a courageous battle with heart disease with much dignity.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Ruth, dog Smokey, parents John and
Maggie, 4 sisters and 2 brothers. He is survived by children Shelley
(Vic), David Jr., Stacee, grandsons Brad (Stacey), Jeff (Stacey), and
great grandchildren Taiyler, Lucas, and an unborn great grandbaby due in
September. He is also survived by sisters Barb and Helen. Dave was
born in Carragana, Saskatchewan and served proudly in the R.C.N. for 5
years. He was happiest at the University of Victoria where he worked
for 33 years until his retirement. Dad was a man of great character
who enjoyed his family, dinners, the casino, watching sports especially curling and CFL football. He loved all the old programs on
TV, his Saturday breakfasts with his son at the P.I. Pub, walks on the
breakwater with his daughters, the petting zoo and Beacon Drive In
with great grandson Lucas. The family would like to thank the staff at RJH
8th floor south for the wonderful care that Dad received - especially
nurse Jill and RCA Carl for their exceptional, compassionate care on
Dads final day. Also, our heartfelt thanks go out to Dads closest
friends Doreen, Edna, Ken & Carol for showing our father friendship
and love. A celebration of life will take place on Sunday, August 18,
2013 at #1 Lekwammen Drive (off Admirals Road) from 12:00 to 3:00 pm.
If so desired, a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Daves
name would be appreciated. To send a donation click above on send a memorial gift.
