Derek Anderson

Derek Kyle Anderson February 28, 1989 November 28, 2014 Derek passed away peacefully at Royal Jubilee Hospital with family and friends at his side. Beloved son of Laurel Gordon and Randy Anderson, he will be missed terribly by his sister, Rachel Anderson (Speed) and brother-in-law, Darian; grandpa, Lorne Anderson and all Dereks extended family and friends. Derek thoroughly appreciated good food, cooked and presented perfectly (as in when he cooked it!). He enjoyed many things during his life: longboarding; snowboarding; music; dancing; a good party; going bowling; camping; scuba diving and his cat Chong. His family and friends were very important to him. He was an old soul in many ways. Kind and friendly to all, he was deeply knowledgeable on many subjects, with a wicked sense of humour and often displayed a wisdom and intelligence beyond his years. We are very sad to lose him, especially so suddenly and tragically, but know he is with his grandmas, Audrey and Marguerite, who will watch over him and try their best to keep him out of trouble! Thank you to Dereks friends for the support you extended to him and our family, throughout his life and during his passing, especially to Andrew Wood, Katie Marshall and Shawn Wignall. We also want to acknowledge Dereks nurses in the RJH ICU for their incredible care and compassion during his stay there. We will love you always and miss you deeply Derek. Keep on dancin. A gathering to celebrate and honour Dereks life will be held at 1pm 3:30pm, Thursday, December 11, 2014 Royal Colwood Golf Club, Sayward Room 629 Goldstream Ave, Victoria BC. Service will begin at 1:00 followed by light refreshments In lieu of flowers, donations to the Victoria Brain Injury Society, the Dandelion Society or Our Place Society would be meaningful to Derek and his family.
