In Loving Memory of Derek Soltys
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Derek Soltys, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Derek brought warmth, wit, and generosity to everyone who knew him.
Derek is lovingly remembered by his sister Dorinda Soltys, his nieces and nephews Lauren, Danielle, Bronson, and Garrett Bullivant, his sister-in-law Sandy Bullivant, and his uncle and aunt Leanne and Brian Flood. He was a cherished presence in the lives of his family, always quick with a kind word, a helping hand, and a good story to share.
After graduating from high school, Derek began his professional life in insurance sales, where his easy going nature earned him the respect of his colleagues and clients alike. Later, he pursued contracting work, where he found satisfaction in building and creating, reflecting the same steady and thoughtful approach that defined his life. Derek loved music and his voice was something to behold. He would often sing at special family occasions, and his rendition of Danny Boy meant so much to all the family and will remain a dear memory.
Derek will be remembered for his quiet and stoic endurance, good humor, and steadfast loyalty to those he loved. His legacy lives on in the family and friends who will carry his memory forward with gratitude and affection.
Derek's family would like to express their deep gratitude, on his behalf, for the incredible dedication and care that his family physician, Dr. Anna Mason, provided to him. It meant so much to his family and to Derek, to have such a skilled and caring physician helping him with his complex health challenges. Derek had other excellent supports in his life and we would like to thank them all as well, especially Kim, and also Dana and George.
We are grateful to all of you for your kindness and care.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Please send a note to Bronson if you would like more information.
