Diana Marie Sahlin (McGregor)

1951 — 2025

Victoria

Mother, friend to all, sister, and daughter. Peacefully went to sleep during surgery, feeling no pain, and drifted over into daughter Carla's waiting arms September 9, 2025.

Predeceased by daughter Carla, parents Orval (Lois), Joan (George), and many cherished friends.

Left to mourn are her beloved son Timothy and daughter-in-law Katrina, her chosen family of dear friends Thea, Margaret, Tony, Daleanne, Kym, Patricia, Tom, Craig, Lori, Charlene, Joey, Ray, Luther, and many other special people she met through Cool Aid, and the Mustard Seed. Katrina's family Lynda and Mike who she spent many years celebrating holidays and special occasions with, plus her siblings and extended family from the McGregor, Mercer, Tweter, and Sahlin families.

As a teen Diana loved reading, swimming, and the NHL. She began her career as a Nurse’s Aide and Housekeeper before becoming a devoted mother. After raising her children, she re-entered the workforce and found one of her proudest accomplishments outside of motherhood: being part of the team that built Sandy Merriman House Women’s Shelter. She went on to serve there as a shelter worker for many years, offering compassion and care to those in need.

She will be remembered for her big heart, generous spirit, and boundless positivity. Her sense of humor, love for animals, and constant willingness to look out for others touched everyone who knew her. She had a unique gift for striking up conversations with strangers—always asking how their day was, genuinely listening, and often walking away with a new story or unexpected fact about someone’s life. Her warmth and presence will be deeply missed.

Later in life, Diana’s days were filled with simple joys — a good scoot, Tim Hortons coffee, heartfelt conversations, cheering on the Canucks and the Royals, family meals, lively games of dice, a funny sitcom, search-a-words, and the occasional sneaky puff.

Her legacy lives on through her son, who carries forward her generous spirit, boundless heart, and determination to overcome adversity.

Rest easy, Diana. Your pure love and unshakable acceptance of everyone you met is a profound loss to those in your circle and the world beyond. You will remain in the hearts of all whose lives you touched — now and forever.
