Dianne Elizabeth Devenney Johnston 1950-2014 was born in Seattle Washington but grew up in Portland, Oregon. As a young woman Dianne worked with Outdoor School and then went on to facilitate summer programs through Portland City Parks. Diannes passion for caring for youth continued on after she moved to Vancouver, Canada when she married Greg Johnston in 1973. She was and advocate for youth and was involved in Teen Outreach and Suicide Prevention programs. Dianne worked for the School Board and assisted children with behaviour issues and also began her long career as a Foster Parent for MCFD. Dianne and Greg moved from Vancouver to the Comox Valley and started a family, having two daughters, Heather and Megan. The years in the Comox Valley were spent exploring the outdoors. Dianne loved the water and spent most summers basking in the sun next to Comox Lake. Dianne and Greg moved to Victoria and continued to foster children. Years later, Heather and her daughter, Billianne, moved in with Dianne and partnered as a Behavioural and Assessment Fostering Team. Diannes youngest daughter, Megan past on March 3, 2014 and the last few months were a very emotional time. Dianne past suddenly due to a bleed in her brain on May 31, 2014. Dianne will be greatly missed by family and friends and leaves behind her daughter Heather, granddaughter Billianne, sister Sandy, and brother Doug. There are countless people that were touched by her spirit and that were impacted by her strength and courage.
