Born in Mozambique during the Portuguese colonial era, Domingos, with many others, was forced to leave during the war of independence. After that war he and his young family spent fourteen years as refugees in Kenya before coming to Canada in 1984. He made his way back to his homeland several times during the Mozambican civil war and its aftermath to do what he thought was best for his people there. Sadly, his return to Victoria in 2004 was followed by poor health and increasing disability.
He is survived by his wife Isabel; his sons Aleixandrei (Ruby), Filipe, Nyamboka, Adgira; his daughters Ivone and Fatima; and his grandchildren Eva, Tereza, Niara, Rohan, Asha, and Araiya. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 5th at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4635 Elk Lake Drive. After Mass the Rite of Committal will be performed at Royal Oak Burial Park and this will be followed by a reception at the church.
