Donald Wildred Johnson

April 14, 1952 — October 20, 2022

Donald Wilfred Johnson passed away peacefully on Octo ber 2oth at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC at the age of 70. Don was born in Toronto on April 14, 1952 to the late Wilfred and Grace Johnson.

Don spent his childhood years growing up in the busy city of Toronto (or "Torona" as he liked to say all "true Toron tonlans'' called it). The family relocated to Thunder Bay in June of 1966, where Don studied at Westgate High School before continuing onto Confederation College. All the while helping at the family-owned business, the Way land Hotel. As a young man he enjoyed playfng the drums and travelling the world; even in his final days he dreamed of one more road trip across North America in a moto rhome. After the passing of his father, Don and his broth ers took over the family business. He eventually took on the venture independently and helped ii become the place to be throughout' the BO'S and 90's. Don was proud to be the President of the Hotel Association as well for many years while owning the Wayland.

Don had more friends than anyone we knew and would do anything to help them out; he would give them the shirt off his back if they needed. He had a knack of embellishing a story to making the most boring incident seem like a wild adventure. Don was always full of mischief and when in trouble could manage to talk his way out of it. In time, Don followed his family out west, moving to British Columbia and working in the hospitality industry.

Don is survived by and leaves to mourn, his four children, Lisa Hill (Brendon), Rachel Brown (Rick), Steven Johnson (Keshia) & Leanne Johnson (Hunter) and grandchildren Liam & Braxton Hill, Jackson & Jessa Brown, and Rorlk & Isla Johnson. As well as his siblings John (Marl,, Rick (Jean) and Robin (Warren). Don has requested that there be no funeral service and hopes family and friends are able to find peace through other means.
