Donalda Margaret Walker

January 26, 1932 — March 31, 2025

Donalda Margaret Walker (nee Pendergast) was a woman of unwavering faith and love. Born on January 26, CENSORED, in Lipton, SK though she was

always 21 to her children and never aged. Donni was the cherished wife

of James Adair Walker, a devoted mother to Leslie (Darren), Karen (Chris), and Patricia. A grandmother to Matt (Emily), Casandra (Sam), Jeffrey, Thomas, grand dogs Napolean and Amy and her beloved great grandchildren. Donni passed away on March 31, 2025, in Victoria, BC, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Donalda was the last of her siblings, the Lipton Pendergasts, including Edra, Ted, Illyene, Jack, Alva, Merle, Patricia, and Chuck. Alva and Merle were the twins. With most of the girls getting the nickname Penny it must have been confusing. Donalda held her family close to her heart and was devastated when she became the last surviving member of her siblings. Donni's family meant everything to her.

A devout Roman Catholic, Donalda cherished her faith and shared a close bond with her mother, Hannah Mable. They enjoyed going to movies and spending time together, memories that Donalda held dear throughout her life. Donalda's father, James, also held a special place in her heart, and she fondly remembered his dry humor and the help he provided to the community. Between being lost or losing something, Donni would call on St. Anthony every day.

Donalda trained as a nurse at the Grey Nuns in Regina, where she formed a lifelong friendship with Marie Hyland. Donalda worked at the mother-babe unit of Foothills Hospital where she was a compassionate and caring nurse. Donni also lived in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal.

Donalda and Jim were immensely proud of their three children. Donni lost her parents young and that made her children all the more important to her. Jim losing his mom so young made him more appreciative of watching his children grow up.

Donalda and Jim shared a love for golf, though Donni was not the fanatic Jim was. They enjoyed happy hours at home or on their travels. Their spontaneous trips were drives in the car, with their girls trying to behave. They were much more likely to go on a spontaneous trip than anything planned in advance. Donni was known to attend Mass at every place they visited. Donni and Jim also cherished their daily coffee outings in Calgary, where they settled and raised their children, after Jim was offered a stockbroker job.

They discovered Qualicum Beach, BC on their many drives and fulfilled their dream of moving there. They spent many wonderful years together until Jim's passing in 2006. Donalda was shaken by the loss of her beloved husband, and she eventually moved to Victoria, where she found solace and friendship in the Catholic Womens League, Widow's Walk group, bridge group, and Cordova 55 plus. Her friendship with Lorna was a source of comfort until the end, and she found great joy in the friendships she made in Victoria.

Donalda was not known for her dedication to nature, but she would always stop and admire trees, especially twisted ones. She loved the poem, Trees. It was fitting that she had a dogwood tree dedicated to her husband. Donni's family plans to take her ashes back to Regina,

where she will be reunited with her beloved mother. Donalda's

friendship will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Although she will be dearly missed, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Donni's family is planning a memorial service in Victoria, once all her

children are able to be there. Special masses will also be said for

her.

Rest in peace, Donalda Margaret Walker.
