Donna died peacefully at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria BC after a courageous battle with COPD. Donna was born in Kapuskasing, Ontario. She worked briefly in Ottawa before returning to Kapuskasing with her husband, Carl. They subsequently moved to Baie Comeau, PQ, Terrace Bay, ON, and Saint John, NB, before retiring to Vancouver Island in 1998. Donna was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Zita, and daughter, Elizabeth Ann. She is survived by Carl, her loving husband of 59 years, sons Stephen (Kevan), Geoffrey (Amy), Andrew and grandchildren David, Sophie, Jack, Will, Charlie and Felix. She is also survived by her sister Joan and her brother Bill (Betty), as well as many nieces and nephews. Donna was an accomplished artist whose paintings hang in many homes across Canada and the U.S.A. She was also a skilled seamstress and a gourmet cook and for many years found time to volunteer for the Red Cross. Donna was joyful, full of love and committed to her family. She had a warm and gentle personality that made her many close friends. Donna will be remembered for her kind and generous nature and sadly missed. The family would like to thank the Royal Jubilee Hospital, and especially the ICU staff, for the care and comfort they provided during Donna's brief hospital stay. A family celebration of Donna's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Canadian Lung Association.
