Donna Roth

January 18, 1952 — July 9, 2023

It is with great sadness we announce the death of our dear friend Donna Roth.

Born January 18 th 1952. Donna died peacefully July 9th 2023. Her life was cut short with complications related to vascular dementia.

Donna grew up in Edmonton one of four children to parents Stella and Frank. Donna loved her parents and siblings deeply . They had all predeceased her and she missed them so much, sister Marlene, brothers Jerome and Bill.

Donna took her Nursing training at Mount Royal College in Calgary. She worked in Cardston ,Jasper and then Victoria General Hospital on 3CE and 7AS. She was an excellent nurse, so kind and caring always hard working giving her patients the best care.

She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and a bachelor of Nursing degree both at the University of Victoria.

There were many things that made Donna a special person . She made you feel like you were her BEST friend. Her face lighting up and a ready smile and welcome. She never came through your door empty handed, always bringing either a jar of jam or jelly or freshly baked muffins .

She was very energetic darting from one thing to another. On walks she could set a blistering pace! She loved being out in nature and appreciating the beauty along places like the Gorge waterway. Stopping to say hello especially to a child or pet a dog or to check out a flower.

She loved her cats with a vengeance . No cat was treated better. They were her children.

Donna loved her garden and was an excellent gardener. Her friends have many a plant divided from her own and knowledge of plant care was shared.

She was committed to her yoga practice with Robin for 16 years and was still doing headstands up until about January 2022.

She loved to travel, beginning with an overland trip from London to Kathmandu when she was just out of school. Many destinations followed over the years.

Donna had a lot of people in her life as she freely gave herself to others. She was a faithful volunteer for the Gorge Canada Day strawberry tea. Worked with the traffic commission ,also doing boulevard maintenance and was a Heart and Stroke canvasser .

She loved singing and was a member of the Allegra choir for a number of years. Particularly enjoying a trip to Ireland where they performed in several venues.

Donna leaves behind nephew Dorian, niece Akilah, goddaughter Micheala and beloved cats Marvin and Bella.

Donna can be at peace, knowing she gave her all to every endeavour and every relationship.
