Doreen celebrated 94 wonderful years of life. Born & raised on the farm in Manson Manitoba, eldest child of Douglas & May McDougall. Doreen was predeceased by her four brothers Wesley, Wayne (Carol), Gordon (Florence), Mel (Mickey). Married in 1949, Doreen and husband Eric had four children Lauren, Mark (Bonny), Rhonda (John), Eylin (Bob) along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Doreen raised her family and taught school (Math, English and most favourite Art) in Winnipeg, moving in 1975 to Victoria to pursue a new business with art interests. There she owned and operated the Potter's Wheel Gallery which provided the opportunity to island hop, meeting local artists while in search of quality pottery and weavings for her store. Doreen had a zest for life that was unmistakable when you met her. Among her many interests were music, dancing and singing. Her optimistic approach to living, made her many friends over the years and she was an active participant in a number of social organizations.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Doreen on October 6th, 2 to 4:00 at the Royal Oak Howard Johnson Hotel. Friends are invited to attend.
Flowers are gratefully declined but donations may be made to charities of choice in Doreen's memory.
