Dorothy Cecelia 'Dot' Beazley
December 15, 1923 — April 13, 2019
Dorothy Cecelia Beazley (Jones), also known as "Dot" or "Aunty Dot", passed away on April 13, 2019 at the Oak Bay Nursing Home.
Dorothy was born in Coronation, Alberta to Martha (Hess) and Albert Jones December 15, 1923. Dorothy grew up on the family farm in Clyde, Alberta and then attended the University of Alberta. While at university, Dorothy was a member of the woman's varsity Basketball team and a member of the Tri Delta Fraternity. She graduated with a Home Economics degree in 1947. After graduation Dorothy joined the Royal Canadian Air Force working as a Dietician, where she was stationed around the country from coast to coast. It was when she was in Vancouver that she met the love of her life, Philip Beazley, her Bridge teacher. Later Dorothy went on to pursue a teaching career and worked as a Home Economics teacher in Calgary. She was famous for her cake decorating skills.
Dorothy was a Master bridge player and a keen amateur artist, both of which she enjoyed long into her retirement. Dorothy was also well known to be an enthusiastic sports fan, always keeping up on the latest sporting events. Dorothy moved to Victoria in the later part of her retirement and thoroughly enjoyed the ocean views and wonderful climate of the west coast.
Dorothy will be remembered for her kindness and unwavering positive attitude. She made many friends along the way and was always delighted by a visit of a friend or family member. Auntie Dot was a big supporter of her nieces, nephews, grandnieces and, grandnephews and extended families making sure to keep up to date on everyone's activities.
She will be fondly remembered by her sister Ruby Dyberg, Phil's children Robin and Melody and their families, her nieces and nephews: Rick, Ian, Darrell, Laurene, Leslie, Karen, Kim, and their families along with many other friends and relatives.
She was predeceased by her: parents Martha (Hess) and Albert Jones, sister Belinda Beauchamp, brother Glenn Jones, and husband Philip Beazley.
Dorothy will be interred at the Dungannon Cemetery, Westlock Alberta where her parents and grandparents are laid to rest.
