It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas Valmore Mitton on July 1,2020, at the age of 63 years after a short battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his parents Valmore and Margaret (Gray) Mitton, He was survived by his wife of 44 years Marilyn (O'Donnell) Mitton, his children Brigette London (Mark), Beth Mitton, his grandchildren Mercedes Foley, Kailey Foley and Jack London, his siblings Judy Stewart (Jack Boudreau), Valerie Gallagher (Edward), Susan Mitton (Harvey Bell) and predeceased by his brother Daniel Mitton (Nora). Doug was born during a snow storm April 3, 1957, in Saint John, New Brunswick. He has lived in Hampton, Sussex and Saint John, New Brunswick, Edmonton Alberta and final residence in Victoria, BC. Doug had a love for God, serving others and being on the open road. He attended churches where he lived. He served a few years as an Auxiliary Police Officer and Jail Guard for Sussex Town Police and RCMP. His love for the open road included a Tim Horton's coffee, a car ride with the family and an almost life long trade as a Long Haul Truck Driver. He traveled throughout Canada and the US. A few business ventures involved partnership with his brother and best friend Danny owning Mitton's Grocery in Lower Millstream, they owned a Transport truck business through Brookville Transport. He also owned a truck through Caldwell Transport. His soft, humble spirit had a way to talk with anyone and everyone, sharing his many stories. He could be chatting at a family barbecue, a local gas station, coffee shop or on a CB radio. It wasn't just about the stories but the way he would connect and listen.
