Lee, Duncan Wayott (April 19, 1921-April 30, 2014) born in Victoria BC. Dad passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, after a short illness. Predeceased by his brothers Wallace, Waldon, and Eugene, sisters Eva and Kangie. Survived by sister Faith (Robert Wong) and Eunice, and sisters-in-law Sue and Gwen Lee. A kind and gentle person, and a great athlete in his youth, he excelled in basketball. Duncan, along with his Chinese Students Athletics basketball team, was inducted in 2010 into the Victoria Sports Hall of Fame. He was a graduate of Victoria High School, and attended a rare 70th Reunion of the 1940 class. In 1951 he married his true love Noreen, and had 2 daughters: Pat (Dan OBrien), Laura (Keith) Lam, grandchildren Brandon (Lin), Bryan (Jessica), Alex and great granddaughter Sofie. His love of growing things led him to owning Western Greenhouses on Garnet & Shelbourne: his specialty was large disbuds (chrysanthemums), cucumbers, and tomatoes. His disbuds were well known amongst all the florists in town. The greenhouses were eventually sold and the property developed commercially. To keep busy, he decided to work for Standard Furniture, until his retirement. He maintained his green thumb with his hobby greenhouse and gardens. His flowers were often displayed at St. Aidans Church on Sundays. Dunc and Noreen travelled extensively, enjoying golf in California, as well as trips to China, Europe and the US. He was a member of the Gorge Vale Golf Course for 50+ years. He celebrated his 93rd birthday last Easter Sunday and 63 years of wedded bliss this past March. A celebration of his life will be held at St Aidans United Church , 3703 St. Aidans Street on May 10, at 12 Noon.
