It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edith Annemarie Vroom on July 20, 2026, at the age of 93. She passed away peacefully at the Priory long-term care facility in Victoria, British Columbia.
Edith was born on October 17, 1932, in Bremen, Germany, to Christian Brinkman and Sophie Honiewicz. On August 24, 1956, she married the love of her life, Hermann Vroom, in Düsseldorf. In April of 1958, the young couple emigrated to Canada in search of a better life and new opportunities, settling in Montreal, Quebec. There they built a life together and raised their family in Brossard.
A devoted wife and mother, Edith lovingly managed the family household for many years. Later in life, she became instrumental in the day-to-day operations of A&B Graphic, the printing business she co-owned with Hermann. Her dedication and steady hand were as vital to the business as they were to her family.
Edith found great joy in the outdoors and in time spent with those she loved. She was an avid cross-country skier in the winter months and treasured the many years she and Hermann spent vacationing at their condo in Florida.
In 2016, Edith was diagnosed with dementia. In December 2024, she and Hermann moved to Victoria, British Columbia, so she could be surrounded by the love of her family in her final years.
Edith leaves behind her loving husband of nearly 70 years, Hermann; her son, Glenn; her daughter-in-law, Kim; and her cherished grandchildren, Megan and Alex. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Caren, her brother Gert, and her parents Christian and Sophie.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the amazing caregivers, nursing staff, and medical team at the Priory, whose compassion and care meant so much to Edith and her family.
A private celebration of Edith's life will be held with family and friends.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
