Edward John Bodnar March 1, 1929 July 18, 2014 Ed passed away peacefully under the wonderful care of the staff at Victoria Hospice and his family after a long struggle with heart problems and fibromyalgia. He is survived by his wife Pricinia (Percy); daughter Dianna and her husband Andrew; son Brad and his wife Jennifer, and grandchildren Finn and Cassidy; as well as brothers and sisters Marshall and Gladys Bodnar, Shirley and David Scott and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Ed was an accomplished mechanical engineer, who served as Director of Buildings and Grounds for the North Vancouver School Board, as well as working for many years in hospitals in Edmonton and Victoria. He began his career on the railways and worked his way up to achieving his First Class Steam Engineering. He also contracted and built three of his own homes. Ed was a loving family man, caring friend, and true gentleman. A past President and longtime member of the Lions Club, he was devoted to community service. Ed loved music and was an enthusiastic musician, playing violin, banjo and guitar, as well as being an excellent dancer. He also loved the outdoors, fishing, traveling, socializing with friends, and playing with the Hawgs band. For many seasons, he and Percy enjoyed winters with their close circle of Venture Out friends in Mesa, Arizona. A celebration of Eds life will be held on Saturday, July 26 at 2 p.m. at First Metropolitan United Church in Victoria, 932 Balmoral. Flowers are gratefully declined.
