Ed died peacefully at Victoria Hospice, of cancer, with his loving wife of 42 years, Monique, by his side. He will be greatly missed by his children and their spouses, Michael (Julia) and Kristine (Scott), and his grandboys Malcolm, Arthur, Max and Winston. Ed immigrated to Canada from Germany at the age of 18. He spent the next few years learning English and playing out his Canada the Land of Wild Wild West childhood fantasies before buckling down and getting his Grade 12 diploma, his drafting diploma, and finally his Electrical Engineering Degree at UBC in 1969. He was hired directly from University by BC Telephone and worked there for 25 years. A few months after starting at BC Tel, he met Monique, a co-worker, and it was love at first sight - they married within a few months. They were tranferred from Tsawwassen to Kamloops and then to Kelowna, where they lived for 25 years. In 2010 they moved to Victoria to be near the children and grandchildren.
Ed was a family man, above all else he was so proud of Michael and Kristine and happy to spend time with his grandkids. He was a creative and inquisitive man there was practically nothing he didnt take on. He always kept busy with projects painting, whittling, reupholstering, making furniture, learning Spanish, gardening ... He never had an unkind word to say about anyone and always kept friends entertained with his stories.
At Eds request, there will be no funeral service. A family private ceremony will be held at a later date.
