Edward Clement Ponsford

It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Ed Ponsford on October 2,2022 at the age of 92. He was the youngest child of Robert and Lillian Ponsford.  Ed was born in Saanich, Victoria, B.C. He spent his youth in the Glanford area. He loved this area and would spend his time hiking and hunting around the Prospect and Durrance Lakes. His favourite thing to do. In later years he loved fishing and camping with friends and family. His greatest passion was to create beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. He built a wonderful waterfall in the backyard. It came down from the highest rock and flowed into a goldfish pond. He loved to be busy in the yard. A long time member of the Lily Club he would grow the most gorgeous Lilies. Roses and Dahlias were another of his favourites. One year he filled the yard with Dahlias. It was spectacular.               Ed met Josefa "Jo", the love of his life, in 1950. They were married in 1954 and bought property at Prospect Lake. They had a house built and started their lives together, a wonderful 68 years. Never afraid of hard work, Ed started working at the young age of 15. He worked in automotive painting and repair. Mooney's, Mesten's, Lacy's, Suburban Motors and Rick Gillman's automotive. He retired at the age of 62.       Ed leaves behind his wife Josefa, son Rick (Bernadette), and daughter Kim (Brian). He is predeceased by his oldest son Mark (2017), parents, brothers (Jack, Gordon, Ray) and sister (Doreen).

There will be no service by his request.  Our family would like to Thank Dr. Metcalfe. Saanich West Community Services, Nurse, Michelle and care workers for all their loving care and support. Thank you to the Saanich Peninsula Palliative Care unit, Dr. George and all the caring nurses that looked after Ed.  Special thank you to Dr. Gilbert Chew for all his care of Ed for so many years. ❤
