Eileen Elsie Cunningham (nee Cashmore) passed away on Christmas eve/day, depending on the time zone, after a brief battle with a rare form of Lymphoma. Eileen was born in Watford, England on April 28, 1931. She moved to Ontario, Canada with her husband, David, in 1956 settling first in Brockville and then Ottawa. Her husband passed away in 1979 and Eileen continued to live in Ottawa until 2002 when she moved to Victoria, BC to be near to her daughter, Christine. Eileen travelled extensively around Vancouver Island, the mainland and crossed the Salish Sea a number of times to travel the US coast. In her travels she made many new friends and was enjoying her life to the fullest. Along with her husband, David, Eileen was predeceased by brothers Peter and Brian Cashmore, England. She leaves behind her daughter Christine Cunningham, and son-in-law Frank Lessard; her sister Christine Flint (nee Cashmore), sisters-in-law Mandy and Shirley, many much loved cousins, nieces and nephews and extended family in England and Canada. Eileen was grateful for the many dear friends she had in her life in both Ontario and BC and we are warmed by the knowledge that she will live on in so many hearts. A special thank you to Dr. Gail Saiger, Michelle, and the incredibly kind and compassionate nurses at the Victoria Hospice and Jubilee Hospital. Donations in Eileens memory would be gratefully received by the Victoria Hospice and the Esquimalt United Church. A service for Eileen at the Esquimalt United Church will be held later in January 2014.
