Emily Kolarich

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Emily (Srnec) Kolarich. After a short illness where her children took turns being by her side, Emily passed peacefully in the company of her son at age 88. We find peace in Emily and her late husband, Joe, reuniting once again. Emily will be lovingly missed by her children, Jozica (John), Cathi, Steve (Claudette); grandchildren Tristan (Kylyn), Shane, Jaelyn; and great-grandson, Oliver. Emily was born in Ivanovec, Medjimurje County, Croatia. She met Joe in a pub in Ljubljana in 1951, when he asked her to dance. They married in 1953. Emily and Joe immigrated to Victoria B.C. in 1957 with their young daughter, Jozica, where they had two more children, Cathi and Stephen. Emily worked as a housekeeper and as a custodian for the Victoria Police Department.
Emily was a longtime resident of the Highlands, where she found great joy in tending to her beautiful garden and spending time with her family. Thank you to the staff at the Summit care home for their great care in her final days. Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, the family will hold a private remembrance ceremony. Donations in Emily's name may be made to the BC Alzheimer's Society.
