Esther Julie Bernstein

Born Esther Julie Goldberg in Edmonton Alberta, to Anne and William David Goldberg. Married for 65 years to the love of her life, Martin Bernstein. Survived by Martin; children David [Susan Kennedy] and Karen [Paul Gibson]. Also survived by brother Ron Goldberg [Anna Goodfriend]; niece Jennifer Goldberg [John Lambersky] and great-nephew Henry Goldberg. Predeceased by brother Michael Goldberg [Ricki Goltzman]. Esther lived for half her life in Edmonton, surrounded by loving family and numerous wonderful friends. She worked alongside Martin in their store Melody Lane Records, and then for the Edmonton Jewish Community Center. When she and Martin fulfilled a dream of moving to Victoria BC in 1980, she worked as the secretary to the Rabbi at Temple Emanu-El for many years. She will be remembered for her sparkling personality, wonderful sense of humor, and her loving devotion to her family and friends - not to forget numerous family dogs! She always spoke about how happy, contented, and blessed her life was. Her best memories include all those wonderful summers at the lake!
