Evelyn Margaret Goudie

d. January 6, 2017

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother Evelyn Margaret Goudie at the age of 95. She is survived by brothers Jim (Toronto) and Jack (Kentucky), sons Tom (Nebraska), Jim (Victoria), Ron (Amsterdam) and Paul (Michigan), seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Evelyn's death was preceded by husband John in 1999 and siblings Bill, Stan and Edna. Evelyn was born in Toronto to Mary and William Lister, who immigrated from England in the very early 1900s. Her life-long resilience was created by the great depression World War II, and the resulting loss of her oldest brother Bill on the Allied offensive to Falaise. Soon after the war ended she married John in 1945. Sons Tom ('46), Jim ('48) and Ron ('52) were born in the Toronto area.
The family emigrated to the US in 1955 and settled in southern California where Paul ('64) was born. Evelyn became a pre-school teacher and continued working well in to her 70s as she loved children of all sizes, shapes and ethnic origin. Family, church and friends were constant priorities for her and her kindness, quick smile and resilience were her strongest characteristics (not to mention her ability to out-think five males in the family).
She will be in our hearts forever.
