Faith Beverley Collins

COLLINS, Faith Beverley, B.Sc.N., B.A., M.Ed., Ed.D.

December 30, 1943 – August 22, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Faith Collins.

Her career included teaching nursing in Canada and the US. Following teaching, she joined the University of Victoria as an administrator of health and public relations programs. Faith’s keen interest in and knowledge of distance education led her to develop and deliver Canada’s first post-basic nursing degree offered through distance education. This achievement led to many requests for consultations in Canada, South Africa, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

Faith was also committed to serving her community and was a board member for numerous organizations including Garth Homer Society, Oak Bay Lodge, Camosun College, Capital Regional Health Board, Mount St. Mary’s Hospital, and Government of Canada Review Tribunals. She was elected councilor in Oak Bay and ran federally.

Faith is predeceased by her parents, Gertrude Helen McDonald and Wing Commander William Vincent McDonald. She is survived by her husband Jim of 60 years, daughter Beth (Sean), son James (Dolores), grandchildren Seamus, Anna, Vincent and Angus, sister Mary Christine, nephews and nieces. She treasured and loved her family and they will treasure and love her always.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Parish, 2060 Haultain Street, Victoria, BC on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
