It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Francis Patterson Coinner on May 19th, 2025, in Victoria, British Columbia, at the age of 92.
Pat (as he was known) was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on April 18th, 1933. He is survived by his two daughters, Kathleen ‘DeeDee’ Coinner (Becky) and Shawna Coinner (Alain), and his two grandsons, Cole Brillinger-Coinner and Trent Deschamps-Coinner. He was preceded in death by his son, John Coinner, and his wife, Shelagh Coinner (nee Dwyer).
Early in life, Pat was an avid sportsman, an elite hockey player, and a speed skater. He was a constant supporter and presence for his two grandsons' athletic and artistic endeavors.
Later in life, he continued to stay active by playing hockey, taking numerous cycling trips, and traveling with his beloved wife, Shelagh.
Pat graduated from the University of Manitoba as a Senior Stick in Mechanical Engineering, where he was fortunate enough to meet his life's love.
His entrepreneurial journey led him to Montreal, where he founded and owned FP Coinner Inc. The company, which still bears his name today, continues to thrive, a testament to his vision and dedication, reassuring all who were part of his journey.
As per his wishes, a private burial will be held at a later date.
