Frank Godwin

Frank died peacefully in Victoria Hospice. His last days were filled with visits from friends giving back to him the love he freely poured out on everyone he met. He leaves a niece Susan, and was predeceased by his parents Maddy and Ab and sister Barbara.
Gerry was born and raised in Toronto, went to Upper Canada College, Jarvis Collegiate, Western and Trent universities. He travelled widely in Europe and the mosaic of his life took him to Ottawa, Halifax, Coburg, Vancouver, Victoria and Saturna Island. He was a creative dancer, a writer of poems (in his 60th year, he wrote 60 haiku to celebrate his life), He was a lifelong seeker for the Divine and and a keen observer of the world around him.
He loved the west coast of Canada and began a new life there with a new name, Frank Godwin. Once he discovered Saturna Island, he gave his heart the Island. He had a way of reaching out to those who needed a listener or a kind word and also a way of reflecting back the goodness he found in people and in his chosen community. Frank lived on Saturna Island from 2006 to 2016 and will be buried here.
We are richer for Frank /Gerry having been with us Internment will be in the Saturna Cemetery at 11 am on Dec 8 with no service, at Frank's request. At 1 pm there will be a Celebration of Frank's life at the Saturna Community Hall. Everyone is welcome to bring stories to share.
